Portola Drama Class

Ms. Renee's exciting theater class creates a huge stage production each year from scratch. We go through a creative brainstorming and editing process, staring with a base script and transforming it into a play that fits our particular year's group of actors.

Students grow in self-confidence as they learn acting techniques, through improvisation games and voice production practice. We advance our observation and concentration both onstage and as audience members. Positive critique and responsive discussion is encouraged.

Through the rehearsal process, cooperation and positive group rapport nurture a growing interdependence. All students are part of the cast; all are part of the crew. We brainstorm and solve problems as they arise and we enjoy the journey of creative collaboration.
