Portola PTSA: 05/09/10 Update from Joanna

Dear Portola Parents,

I hope to see you at our last PTSA meeting of the year, this coming Tuesday, May 11, 7:00 pm, in the Library. We will be looking both backwards and forwards.

  1. Looking to the past, we will honor and celebrate all of our fabulous "09 - '10 parent volunteers, particularly the outgoing 8th grade parents. Come and help me thank them for stepping up and showing that "Portola Parents Care!"
  2. Looking to the future, we will learn the latest news about our move to the portables that will soon be placed on the blacktop, on the lower pad, and how parents can help with that move.
  3. We'll also be hearing a brief presentation about "The Parent Project," a parent education program that we hope will help many of us navigate these rocky waters of parenting our children through early adolescence.
  4. And we absolutely can't move into the future until we have had our Portola PTSA election. Come and vote in our new slate of officers!!! We will also let you know which committee chair positions are still open.

So that is the bare bones outiline of the news I have to share with you, with the exception of one item: We MUST get a nominee for President! Search your soul and your rolodex. Know that you don't have to have ever held office before (I had only held one office --Historian--- one year.) You will have a fabulous Exec Board to help you guide this ship as we sail into the future! Please consider being President, Call me to ask more about the job. I will give the next President lots of help with the transition.

---Joanna

P.S. And you don't have to be a Portola mom to be a leader, either! Portola dads and parents of future students can also serve on our Board and be President!
